Dear Government,
I sort of understand why phone surveys and charitable organizations don't fall under the "do not call" registry restrictions. But could we revise that? How about this: limit the number of times they can call a particular number (if I know who you are and haven't picked up by the third time you call, I'm not going to pick up), and require them to leave messages on answering machines. If I listen to the message and decide it's not a scam, harassment, etc., then I'll pick up next time you call.
Regards,
Carrie
I know, I know, completely not enforceable. Or realistic I suppose.
The phone has rung four times in the last two hours, all of them "out of area, number unavailable" or no caller ID whatsoever (just says "incoming call" and never shows even a number). We have an election going on, so I'd be happy to tell the political surveys that I-already-voted-so-please-stop-calling, but I never know which ones are normal surveys, and which ones are verbally abusive fundraisers for the fraternal police organizations. So I just don't pick up.

Mmm spring food
I am totally obsessed with oven-roasted brussel sprouts this year. So delicious!!
My farmers market opens up in a week and a half, but unfortunately I basically won't be able to go until June-- I'll be out of town the first weekend for the half marathon in San Diego, the next weekend in South Dakota, and the weekend after that in Calgary. Sigh. And I still need to get a bike basket so I can get my purchases home without awkwardly bungeeing a bag of stuff to the back of my bike.
I biked to the gym and the grocery store today. Love it!

Lunch and Hakuna Fritatta
Ok, I just had to share this. I'm having the strangest, most thrown-together lunch I've had in a while.
Brown rice.
Turkey hot dog (no bun).
Oven-roasted baby zucchini.
Red pepper.
Broccoli stems.
The last two are leftovers from some veggies I chopped up for dinner, which will be (drum roll please) Broccoli and Red Pepper Fritatta! One of my favorites, and only about 200 calories and packed with veggies. I make mine with 1% milk and low-fat cream cheese (neufchatel cheese), but you could always lighten it up more by subbing egg whites for some of the whole eggs, or using egg substitute.

Mondays Make Me Tired
Oof. Today I worked eight hours, ran 3.4 miles, bought a new vacuum, vacuumed the whole house, cleaned half the bathroom, did three loads of laundry (Stefano helped), made tapioca pudding, washed dishes, and made meatballs to eat later this week. It's a good thing Stefano made dinner (mmm hot dogs on the grill) or I'd be completely done for.
Sorry for the lack of blogging... I'm not sure I'm going to be any better for the next month or so. The half marathon is June 5th, and I've been spending a lot of time running. Christine, Stefano, and I "raced" a 10k (Stefano actually kinda raced; Christine and I trotted along at our comfortable distance pace), then added on the five miles we all needed to get our 11-mile training run that day. I then proceeded to eat my own weight in chips and queso. It was fantastic.
So this week is more work, more running, and possibly build up the nerve to go to a yoga class at my gym.
I say again, oof.
Oh, and I have more recipes to share nutrition info on, but I need to sit down and do a little more work on them. Maybe sometime later this week?

Excitable Dog
Molly was very VERY excited to see Stefano on Friday night. He'd been in Chicago for work for almost two weeks, and I think she'd given up on ever seeing him again... Wish I'd gotten my camera out sooner; she was jumping all over him and rolling in his lap.
